In this story, the power of love literally stops a global disaster. The series began as a light novel, and both the original version and the anime version have been around for a very long time.
Harem has become so common and overused that Date A Live brings something new to the genre, even if it is a bit silly. Where to Read the Date A Live Light Novels?
In 2011, Koshi Tachibana and Tsunako started writing a series of light novels called Date A Live. The original series, which was sold in the West by Yen Press, ran for exactly nine years, from March 19, 2011, to the same date in 2020. This added up to 20 books, which were joined by 10 books of short stories called Date A Live Encore.
The first four volumes of the original Date A Live light novel series have been released in the West. You can find them on Amazon, Comixology, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, and Books-A-Million. Unfortunately, none of Encore’s volumes have been released outside of Japan. This is likely to change as the rest of the main series is released. There have been a lot of manga versions of Date A Live, but none of them have lasted very long or been released in countries other than Japan.
Where to Watch the Date A Live Anime?
AIC Plus+ makes the anime version of Date A Live. They have worked on many Tenchi Muyo! shows, as well as Ah! My Goddess, the mecha anime series Viper’s Creed, and the anime version of Persona 4. The series started in 2013 and has been going strong ever since, with 34 episodes and two OVAs. The fourth season of the show, which is now made by a company called Geek Toys, was announced in 2020 and was supposed to come out in 2021. It was supposed to come out in 2022, but it has been pushed back to April of this year.
There are many places where you can stream the show, and many of them are free. You can buy individual episodes on YouTube, Apple TV, Google Play, and Amazon Prime Video, but you can also stream the whole series (so far) on Hulu, Funimation, and the even cheaper Tubi TV. You can also buy the DVD collections of the series so far on Amazon and in stores like Best Buy, but they cost more than just streaming the anime series Date A Live.
The Storyline of Date A Live
Date A Live is funny and creative, even when it comes to harem. The series starts with a series of “spatial quakes” that kill off most of the people in Europe and Asia. This goes on for 30 years, until the main character, Shido, meets a girl near one of the quakes. It turns out that she is from another dimension and that the quakes are caused by spirit beings like her.
Soon, Shido’s adoptive sister will ask him to use his new ability to seal these spirits, which will stop them from causing earthquakes on Earth. The only problem is that for this to work, he has to make the spirits love him and kiss him, which gets harder as the number of spirits grows. Shido has to save the world while dealing with the many jealous women who threaten it. He does this by joining a special operations team that is meant to stop the quakes.
