As of the time, this article was written, there were no spoilers for One Piece Episode 1044. However, the preview shows that the fight between Black Maria and Robin is almost over. Fans will also probably see Luffy come back to life after being thrown off Onigashima.
Follow along as this article breaks down what we know about when One Piece Episode 1044 will come out and makes guesses about what to expect.
Release Date and Time One Piece Episode 1044
As was already said, One Piece Episode 1044 will start airing on Japanese networks on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. JST.
For a small part of international audiences, this means that the movie will come out on Saturday night in their country. But most international fans, like Japanese viewers, won’t be able to watch the episode until Sunday morning where they live. The exact release time depends on the country and time zone.
One Piece Episode 1044 will be available on Crunchyroll at the following times in the respective time zones:
- Pacific Standard Time: 6:00 pm, Saturday, December 10
- Eastern Standard Time: 9:00 pm, Saturday, December 10

Where to Watch One Piece Episode 1044?
About 90 minutes after the episode airs in Japan, it will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll. Funimation still streams new episodes every week for its subscribers, but it takes a lot longer than Crunchyroll to do so. So, Crunchyroll is the best overall choice for watching the next episode.
What to Expect From One Piece Episode 1044?
From what I can tell from the previews, One Piece Episode 1044 doesn’t seem to have a lot of original anime content. Fans were surprised by Brook’s flashback to last week, which was still welcome but seemed to be forced.
The fight between Nico Robin and Black Maria seems to be the main focus of the next episode. The anime team is making a good choice by keeping the matchup as the main focus until it’s over since it’s clear that it’s getting close to the end. Even though there will be other parts of the Onigashima Raid in the episode, Robin vs. Black Maria is likely to be a big part of it.
From the sneak peek, it looks like fans will also get to see Luffy again. He looks strong enough to start eating everything he sees. Even though this is probably the last time fans will see the Straw Hat in this episode, it’s a good sign for what’s to come. The Fifth Emperor may return to the rooftop battleground on Onigashima sooner than Kaido or fans thought.

Recap of Episode 1043 of One Piece
Luffy’s Gear 4 finally wears off because of Kaidou’s attack. When he goes back to normal, he falls back to the ground and falls asleep again. Even though Kaidou was named the winner, he was furious that history had repeated itself and he had won because someone else got in the way. Even Kid and Law agree that this is a sad turn of events for the samurai. While people like Chopper and Tama cry over Luffy’s death, Nami tells him who she is. Kaidou says that Onigashima will still fall on the Flower Capital, but unlike Orochi, he will make everyone in Wano work to make weapons.
Momonosuke agrees with what he says, and he stops pulling the island away and joins the battle. Carrot and Nekomamushi decide to get back into the fight, and Kid and Law have to force themselves to stand back up so that Kaidou doesn’t kill them both. Zunesha says that Joy Boy has come back and that the “Drums of Liberation” is being played for the first time in 800 years.
