Sonic Prime Release Date, Cast, Plot, Trailer and Where to Watch

On Thursday, December 15, 2022, Sonic Prime will be available on Netflix.

Even though we don’t know exactly when the new series will be out, Netflix has confirmed that it will be out on December 15. This backs up earlier reports from this year that said the game would come out in the middle of December 2022.

Sonic Prime is going to be the first Sonic show of its kind to be a Netflix original. Even though there have been a lot of animated shows before Prime, it looks like it will change the way things have been done in the past. One big difference between trailers and posters is that the show seems to take place in the same world as the Sonic games, like Green Hill Zone.

Follow along as this article breaks down everything we know about the release of Sonic Prime so far.

Release Date, Where to Watch Sonic Prime

As specified above, Sonic Prime’s confirmed official release date is December 15, 2022. As of the time, this article was written, there was no official date given for when the series would be on the platform.

But most Netflix shows, especially those that are called “Netflix Originals,” don’t come out until 12 a.m. Pacific time. Even though it hasn’t been confirmed for Sonic Prime, it seems likely that the same rules would apply here. With that in mind, the series is likely (but not confirmed) to be released at the following times in the corresponding time zones:

  • Pacific Standard Time: 12 AM, Thursday, December 15
  • Eastern Standard Time: 3 AM, Thursday, December 15
  • Greenwich Mean Time: 8 AM, Thursday, December 15
  • Central European Time: 9 AM, Thursday, December 15
  • Indian Standard Time: 1:30 PM, Thursday, December 15
  • Philippine Standard Time: 4 PM, Thursday, December 15
  • Japanese Standard Time: 5 PM, Thursday, December 15
  • Australia Central Standard Time: 5:30 PM, Thursday, December 15

Trailer for Sonic Prime

After releasing a teaser at the end of last month, Netflix has now released the first full trailer for the upcoming Sonic Prime series, which will premiere on the streaming service on December 15.

The multiverse, which has always been a way for writers to get out of writing, seems to play a big role in the new series. In the above trailer, Sonic falls through a number of different worlds where he meets different versions of Knuckles, Tails, Amy, and Eggman. Even SEGA’s blue blur says the line “enough running” at one point but then goes on to… do more running.

Cast of Sonic Prime

Justin Peniston, Duncan Rouleau, and Omar Spahi wrote Sonic Prime. WildBrain is the main studio behind the show, with the Vancouver studio primarily responsible for the series. Other sources say that SEGA and Man Of Action Entertainment are also very involved with the series, which makes sense.

Deven Christian Mack will voice Sonic the Hedgehog in the new show, even though he has never done so before. The rest of the cast has been named by the production team, but their roles have not been revealed yet. They are as follows:

  • Brian Drummond
  • Shannon Chan-Kent
  • Ashleigh Bell
  • Vincent Tong
  • Kazumi Evans
  • Ian Hanlin
  • Adam Nurada

What to Expect From Sonic Prime?

Sonic Prime Release Date

It has been confirmed that there will be 24 episodes of Sonic Prime. But it’s unlikely that Netflix will let you watch all of the episodes at once. The most likely thing to happen is that there will be two drops of 12 episodes, with the first coming in December. Based on what Netflix has done in the past, the second batch will likely be out by the middle of 2023.

Posters and trailers for the show have shown that Rouge the Bat, Shadow the Hedgehog, Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik, Miles “Tails” Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Big the Cat, and Big’s pet frog, Froggy, will all be in it. From the advertising, it looks like the series will also add at least one new character to the franchise.
