Emma Slater and Sasha Farber of Dancing With the Stars have divorced after four years of marriage, according to PEOPLE.
Farber, 38, and Slater, 33, recently choreographed a number of dances for the most current season of So You Think You Can Dance.
They got engaged in October 2016 during a live taping of the ABC show after performing to Bruno Mar’s “Just the Way You Are.”
Former host Tom Bergeron escorted them to the ballroom’s center, where he told Farber, “Sasha, I always believed you had the ability to host.”
“Babe, I wanted to do this for such a long, long time,” Farber said, taking Slater’s hand. He dropped down on one knee in front of a stunned Slater and told her in front of the stunned audience: “I adore you to pieces. Will you wed me?”
People heard after the performance that Farber proposed with a pink sapphire, the same hue as Slater’s mother’s engagement ring.
Two years passed before they were romantically involved, but Farber claimed he knew Slater was the one “three or four months” after they met.
Slater remarked at the time, “We’ve been together for five and a half years.” “The recent purchase of a home feels like a logical move. My mother stated that one’s marriage should seem normal and not unexpected. It should be anticipated since that is when it is appropriate, and it seems like I’ve been his fiancee and wife for years. With the exception of the weight of my arm, everything seems fairly normal.”
US Weekly said that Farber and Slater got married at Bella Blanca in Los Angeles in 2018 with close friends and family present, including their fellow DWTS stars Lindsay Arnold, Hayley Erbert, Witney Carson, Brittany Cherry, and Jenna Johnson, who were all bridesmaids.
Farber donned a white and black tuxedo to the wedding, while Slater wore a white, lace-detailed, long-sleeved Rivini gown.
The newlyweds selected Ed Sheeran’s 2017 song “Perfect” for their first dance, and the Grammy-winning artist recorded a special message for them.
Both Slater and Farber are childless. Us Weekly was the first to break the news of their separation.
