AUS vs SL: Inglis to make his debut, while Hazlewood and McDermott are set to return

For the first T201 against Sri Lanka, captain Finch has confirmed Josh Inglis’ debut as well as Ben McDermott’s opening slot.

Aaron Finch has named his starting lineup for the opening T20I of the series, which starts at 7:10 p.m. local time at the SCG in Sydney ( 1:40 pm IST).

In the pre-match press conference, Aaron Finch stated that debutant Josh Inglis will be a key member of the playing XI today, but that because Mathew Wade is Australia’s primary consideration at wicket-keeper, Josh Inglis will be playing as a batsman rather than a wicket-keeper. Finch has revealed that Ben McDermott will start in place of David Warner, who has been rested for the series against Sri Lanka.

Josh Hazlewood hasn’t been seen much owing to an injury that kept him out of the remaining matches of the memorable Ashes series, which Australia dominated. Josh recently mentioned in an interview that missing the Ashes was a massive regret in his life, and that he will be giving his all for Australia’s forthcoming series and tournaments.

According to skipper Finch, Hazlewood will make a comeback because of his strong IPL season, which allows him to be a priority player for Australia’s T20I games. Hazlewood will receive a lot of experience as the World Cup approaches, and the grounds will be similar to those used in the series, allowing the pacer to grow confidence while gaining experience.

Ashton Agar may be benched after captain Finch allocates him to the role for the remaining games of the five-match series.

Confirmed XI: Aaron Finch (c), Ben McDermott, Josh Inglis, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade (wk), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood.
