“I know no cricketer will accept that when you’re told to move on,” Dinesh Karthik says

Dinesh Karthik sympathises with Wriddhiman Saha’s plight of being disregarded by the Indian management, stating that it is always difficult for a player to comprehend that the team no longer requires him.

Wriddhiman Saha was not selected for the Test series against Sri Lanka and has been given a premature goodbye from the Test squad, as the management has instructed Saha that he should move on since team India prefers Rishabh Pant

Wriddhiman Saha was not even considered as a backup wicketkeeper for India, with KS Bharat being selected to the Test series.

Karthik in an interview with ICC expressed sympathy for Saha, stating that it is difficult for a player to accept that they are being moved on. “From what I’ve seen with Wriddhiman’s interviews, I’m very confident he knows where this decision is coming from,” Karthik remarked.

“All of us want to represent the country and that is the burning desire for everybody. So that when somebody comes in says, ‘I think your time is done,’ it can be a hard one to swallow. But it is understandable and you have to understand where the selectors, the coach and the captain are coming from,” added Karthik.

“I’m sure no cricketer will accept that when they’re instructed to go on. It’s a difficult one because this is what they’ve been doing every day.”
