IND vs WI: KL Rahul and Axar Patel dropped from the T20I Series

For the forthcoming T20I series, the BCCI has proposed replacements for KL Rahul and Axar Patel.

KL Rahul, the vice-captain, and all-rounder Axar Patel have been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
Deepak Hooda and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been named as KL Rahul and Axar Patel’s replacements by the BCCI.

KL Rahul’s upper left hamstring pull has raised doubts over his ability to play in the ongoing West Indies series, while Axar Patel’s rehabilitation has resumed following his COVID recuperation and he will be sidelined for the T20I series. The two players who have been ruled out will be sent to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, while Ruturaj and Deepak will fly to Kolkata with the rest of the ‘blues’.

After a brilliant debut game in the ODI, Deepak Hooda has an excellent chance to play in the T20Is. Deepak Hooda was selected for the Sri Lanka series five years ago, however he did not play. Deepak was also included in the Nidhas Trophy squad, although he did not appear in any of the matches.
