IND vs WI: KL Rahul and Axar Patel dropped from the T20I Series

KL Rahul, the vice-captain, and all-rounder Axar Patel have been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
Deepak Hooda and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been named as KL Rahul and Axar Patel’s replacements by the BCCI.

KL Rahul’s upper left hamstring pull has raised doubts over his ability to play in the ongoing West Indies series, while Axar Patel’s rehabilitation has resumed following his COVID recuperation and he will be sidelined for the T20I series. The two players who have been ruled out will be sent to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, while Ruturaj and Deepak will fly to Kolkata with the rest of the ‘blues’.

Ruturaj was held as a reserve in the ODI series against South Africa and has yet to play in the present series against the West Indies owing to COVID-19. Ruturaj has recovered from COVID-19, according to the BCCI, and has been called up for the T20 series in Kolkata.

In Kolkata, India will host three Twenty20 Internationals against the Windies. The T20I matches will take place on the 16th, 18th, and 20th of February.
