Ishant makes himself unavailable for the Ranji Trophy

After waiting for a couple of days and the final hour at the Ferozshah Kotla on Wednesday for the confirmation from Ishant Sharma, the DDCA decided to go ahead with the team selection, snubbing Ishant Sharma for the upcoming cricketing league in the country, the Ranji trophy. The teams have geared up for one of the most exciting leagues in the country that produces and shapes up a pool of talent every year. However, this time, Delhi will have to go ahead without Ishant Sharma who has gone incommunicado for a couple of days, of late.

The lanky pacer who is one of the premium talents that India backs in the test format has been out of form ever since the World test championship final, and since then, he has been irregular into the national playing eleven. However, a couple of minutes before DDCA President, Rohan Jaitley, chaired the meeting with the selectors and coaches, took a call with the veteran pacer. It is understood that Ishant Sharma has shown an unwillingness to play in the league and he has decided to pull himself out from selection.

This reluctance from the 33-years-old is floating when the Indian team is under a transition period where youngsters are proving their capability in the red-ball format. According to a source quoted by TOI, the likes of Wriddhiman Saha and Ishant Sharma have been told by the management of the Indian team that new players are under the radar of the selection committee by considering the future perspective of the team.
