NZW vs INDW: India record their highest ODI score against the hosts

India has a good chance of winning in the second ODI game by a large margin after scoring 270 runs in the first innings.

In the second One Day International encounter between the New Zealand Women and the India Women, Team India set a new record for the highest One Day International score against New Zealand.

In the first innings, Team India put up a fantastic performance, with skipper Mithali Raj hitting 66* runs and the top order also contributing to India’s 270-run total. The Indian women have put up a strong fight against the hosts.

After a collapse of 25/3 in the initial overs, Richa Ghosh scores her highest ODI score of 65 off 64, which allowed team India get back into the game and the middle-order partnership started to appear secure. Mithali Raj’s magnificent knock, along with Richa’s greatest ODI score, contributed to India’s 270-run total.

Sabbhineni Meghana started well for the visitors but unfortunately got out in 49 runs and was not able to complete her half century. Yastika Bhatia coming down at 3 played well and scored 31 runs as she couldn’t convert her performance into a long scoring partnership.

It is the same venue where the Indian women failed to chase down a 276-run mark in the 1st ODI, and by putting up a similar total, India may have an opportunity in winning this game, allowing them to advance to the third ODI with a series decider match. To keep the series alive, India must win this game, as the total on the board in the first innings would undoubtedly aid team India in hunting down all 10 NZW wickets before the hosts attempt to chase down the 271-run mark.
