IPL Mega Auction: Top 3 Picks by Chennai Super Kings

Here are the top three players who can impact the team for a successful season.

The defending champions have been one of the successful franchises over the years and the major and significant factor is their long-time captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who along with the management is always finding an ultimate team.

Before the fans witness the top three picks by the franchise, unsold Suresh Raina has remained a significant trend since a few days after he was not even picked by their old franchise CSK. The fans believed that if the team could buy Pujara out of his respect, Raina’s legacy on the other hand shall not be forgotten easily. But the CEO of the franchise had its valid reason. Apart from these talks, these three are the top picks by CSK –

1. Deepak Chahar – Chahar has successfully helped CSK to bring out a dominating factor in the initial overs and has also strengthened the team’s bowling unit by taking the major chunk of responsibility in the IPL games and which is one of the reasons why Deepak Chahar was bought by former team CSK for a whopping sum of ₹14 crores which technically broke the team’s bank but they managed well to create a perfect balance in the team. Deepak Chahar once again demonstrated his potential as a genuine all-rounder in the third and final ODI between India and the West Indies in Ahmedabad. Chahar utilized the opportunity to remind everyone of his varied skillsets with an all-around showing, contributing in with both bat and ball, as the game was played just a day before the IPL 2022 auction. The 29-year-old is likely to be one of the main attractions at the mega-event, and performances like the one he put up on Friday (February 11) will only add to the clamor for his abilities.

2. Devon Conway – One of the top-ranked T20 batsmen by the ICC Rankings report, Conway gets a good deal to debut in the Indian Premier League as the New Zealand batsman will contribute a lot under MS’ captaincy. His capability to strike from the first ball, itself, makes him a lethal addition to the Chennai Super Kings’ masterclass journey. He is currently ranking at number 7 in the ICC T20 Rankings of Batsman category. Chennai got Conway cheaply at ₹1 crore which can turn out to be impactful for the team as CSK has let go their former opening batsman Faf and Conway can be a perfect substitute for him.

3. Dwayne Bravo – Chennai never leaves its family and it has been a trending trademark of the franchise that has once again acquired Bravo for the upcoming season. By retaining 4 top players at a considerably expensive price, Bravo turns out to get picked cheaply for the price of ₹4.40 crore which can turn out to be a positive thing for the team as Bravo has a close bond with the old teammates and the management which makes the teamwork easy to assign roles to a particular player. Bravo with more the 500 international matches experience and a 2-time Purple Cap holder in IPL, can continue with what he is known for – A lethal all-rounder.
