The Biggest WicketTakers in IPL “Purple Cap” Most Wickets in IPL History

The Indian Premier League has given several young cricketers a chance to make their mark in the game. The “Purple Cap” is awarded to the bowler who takes the most wickets during the season and wears it while fielding, with the overall leading wicket-taker at the end of the tournament winning the actual Purple Cap award on the day of the season’s final. In the event of a tie, the bowler with the higher economy rate would be awarded the Purple Cap. The only players to have won it twice are Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Dwayne Bravo.

The well known Lasith Malinga took the most wickets in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. Sri Lanka have been playing for the Mumbai Indians since 2010 and are still an active team of players for them. Malinga has taken 170 wickets in 122 IPL games so far with a very strong average of 19.8 and 16.62 respectively.

Amit Mishra, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla and Dwayne Bravo follow with 157, 150, 150 and 147 counters respectively to their name. Here is the list of top 10 players, proven to be the best in Indian premier League (IPL).

Mishra has performed for numerous franchises and is currently doing his job for Delhi Capitals. He is the greatest spinner wicket – taker in IPL history. Harbhajan Singh, who has played for the Mumbai Indians for most of his career, is the second tallest wicket – taker among spinners. He currently plays for the Chennai Super Kings.

All Rounder Dwayne Bravo from West India is fourth on the list of highest Wicket – Takers in IPL. A former Mumbai Indian player, Bravo has been playing for CSK for several years.

Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also slowly climbing the charts. He is fifth on the list of bowlers with the most wickets in IPL with 133 wickets to his name. He has played a crucial role in the success of Sunrisers Hyderabad over the past five years.
