Ao Ashi Season 2 Renewal Status

As previously stated, the company behind the popular football anime series, Production I.G., has not yet formally renewed Ao Ashi for season 2.

There is, however, plenty of source material available for the anime adaptation to turn into a second TV season. This is frequently what determines whether an anime series is developed further or is canceled indefinitely.

Episode 24 is not expected to be adapted until volume 12 chapter 117 of Yugo Kobayashi and Naohiko Ueno‘s original manga series. The good news is that 29 complete Tankobon volumes had been published in Japan as of September 2022. That is, assuming the series continues at its current pace. There would be enough material for not one, but two additional anime seasons.

Ao Ashi Season 1 Popularity

Then there’s the belief that Aoashi should be popular enough to warrant a second season at Production I.G. Prior to the season 1 finale, the anime is currently rated 8.1/10 on IMDB, 4.1/5 on Anime-Planet, 80% on Analyst, and 8.15/10 on MyAnimeList.

In addition to maintaining high ratings internationally, the anime helped to boost manga sales in Japan by reaching the top 20 on Oricon in April, May, and June of this year.

Given the positive reviews, increased manga sales, and ease of access to the source material, it should only be a matter of time before Development I.G. confirms that Aoashi season 2 is in the works.

Production I.G. has already scheduled three major anime productions for 2023, which fans should be aware of. FLCL Shoegaze, Fafner in the Azure, and Rakudai Majo are among the artists featured. There will also be an unannounced Psycho-Pass: Providence series.

These initiatives are likely to take precedence over Aoashi season 2 during the first half of 2023. Because of this hectic schedule. In general, fans can expect season 2 of the popular football anime to premiere on the Fall airing schedule in October 2023.
