A new teaser trailer promises an amazing adventure and wild developments for the MCU’s future.
“We will see what kind of Doctor Strange you are,” says Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in the footage.
Stewart’s presence has been suggested in previous trailers and advertising, but his voice is now indistinct in the latest teaser.
The announcement of two major character cameos in the teaser has fans ecstatic. Read on for more details.
The next sequel is set to link to a number of Marvel’s other Phase 4 projects, like WandaVision and Loki, and have big repercussions for other upcoming Marvel movies.
Doctor Strange 2 was meant to be released on March 25, but has been postponed until later in the year.
That being said, this is everything we know about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
When Is Doctor Strange 2 Coming Out?
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to debut in the US on May 6, 2022. The sequel was scheduled on May 7, 2021.
The COVID-19 epidemic, like most movie schedules, delayed those preparations. Doctor Strange 2 was put back three times, first to November 5, 2021, then to March 25, 2022, and finally to today’s date.
“The Multiverse of Madness isn’t finished yet. Next, “she told a Variety reporter. “We’re almost done with our photos. There’s a lot more to come. We’ll be chatting all year.”
Due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic, the film’s release date has been pushed back twice.
Doctor Strange 2 was originally scheduled for release in November 2021, but was later pushed back to May 2022.
Kevin Feige told Variety about the newest MCU movie delay: “It’s production shifts and modifications, and we can simply rearrange slots. So the Marvel slots are the same, just the movies released.
Because Strange is now six weeks away, there will be a five-month gap between Marvel movies, which I think we can all handle.

Aside from Benedict Cumberbatch’s return as the great sorcerer Doctor Strange, the big news from Comic-Con 2019 was Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.
Disney+ streaming show WandaVision will be linked to the plot of Doctor Strange 2.
Both Cumberbatch and Olsen appear to play multiple characters.
Rachel McAdams will reprise her role as Strange’s previous partner Dr Christine Palmer, while Xochitl Gomez will play new inter-dimensional heroine America Chavez.
Wong, Strange’s most loyal ally and new sorcerer supreme, will also return as Benedict Wong.
Wong also praised Raimi’s unique energy, telling Collider: “We both enjoy throwing alts, so we simply have a good time. I just hurl stuff at the wall, and it either falls or sticks. It’s a creative process.”
“I think he has a brilliant intellect that he uses to convey stories in a unique way. And that fits perfectly in Doctor Strange’s world.
“I’m excited to see what he accomplishes with that world,” he continued.
Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays the now-villainous Karl Mordo, recently revealed his joy at reuniting with legendary director Sam Raimi.
“I’m really thrilled Sam Raimi is doing the film, the second Doctor Strange,” he told the press. “He contributes a lot of originality and passion to everything he does.”
Dr. Strange 2 Filming Dates
Doctor Strange 2 began shooting in London in November 2020. Filming was supposed to start in May 2020, but the COVID-19 epidemic delayed it.
A spike in coronavirus cases in the UK halted production in January 2021. It resumed in March and lasted until April. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed on April 15 that filming was wrapping up. Production ran until April 17.
Benedict Wong told Collider that the movie ended production in September and that they’ll be returning for further photography, as is traditional for every MCU film. The studio apparently reshot the film for six weeks to “have more fun with the universe.”

Who Makes Doctor Strange in the Mad Multiverse?
Doctor Strange 2 director Sam Raimi’s involvement was revealed in April 2020. Scott Derrickson was supposed to direct the film (who also directed the first movie). Derrickson apparently planned to make a horror film, but he departed the project due to creative issues with Marvel Studios.
Jade Bartlett had been contracted to write the script in October 2019. Michael Waldron, the writer of Loki, will write Doctor Strange 2. After bringing in Waldron and Raimi, they wrote a fresh script from scratch. It helped him and Raimi figure out exactly what they wanted from the movie, Waldron told Collider’s Steve Weintraub in June 2021.

Doctor Strange 2 Plot
Along with the two trailers and interviews, Marvel Studios has also released the official synopsis for the film, which reads:
The MCU opens the Multiverse and pushes its bounds in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Travel into the unknown with Doctor Strange as he battles a mysterious new opponent with the help of old and new supernatural allies.
However, the mention of a “mystery new opponent” is intriguing, considering the trailers have made it appear that Wanda will be the film’s unwilling nemesis.
Wanda Vision ended with her expressing her desire to find her children. It’s true that the kids weren’t real, but she still loves and misses them. Wanda’s melting down when separated from her kids in the comics is there another bad guy besides Wanda? We won’t have to wait long.
After finishing Wanda Vision, Elizabeth Olsen had no idea what Wanda would be doing in Doctor Strange 2. She also told Collider that the screenplay changed repeatedly during filming. Olsen:
“Aren’t we always changing?
Because we’re continually giving remarks and they’re really open to suggestions, it’s always evolving even while filming. We have a script, but I had no idea what it was when I was cast. I knew I’d be in Doctor Strange 2. I didn’t find out what I’m doing in Doctor Strange 2 until we went back to finish Wanda Vision during the pandemic. [Laughs] But it’s good not knowing! After that, you just kind of trust everyone and bring your character experience to it, and people accept changes.”
Kang is unlikely to appear in Doctor Strange 2 given his role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania. That leaves a lot of options. Strange has several foes in the comics, and any of them could appear in the film.
So mysterious! Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness looks to be a mind-blowing story of cosmic proportions, and we can’t wait to see it.
