The Jurassic franchise, like the idea of resurrecting dinosaurs despite the inherent danger, is still going strong and shows no signs of slowing down. Although two sequels to Steven Spielberg’s 1993 film Jurassic Park failed to capture the same magic as the first picture, 2015’s Jurassic World resumed the story with new characters (and a few familiar faces), rejuvenating a previously dormant series.
The third Jurassic World film, dubbed Jurassic World: Dominion, is now in production and is expected to be the most ambitious to date. Following up on the massive cliffhanger from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Colin Trevorrow, who co-wrote and directed Jurassic World and produced and co-wrote Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, returns to the director’s chair.
Jurassic World: Dominion Cast
Several familiar faces from the previous Jurassic Park films will return, including Chris Pratt, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum, who will all be appearing together for the first time since 1993 Jurassic Park. Dr. Ellie Sattler, Dr. Alan Grant, and Dr. Ian Malcolm will all return.
During an interview with Empire, director Colin Trevorrow said that the venerable trio would be returning “In my opinion, I’m not as good as Steven Spielberg. I’ll never be able to be. So I had to start from scratch in convincing these individuals that I would be able to shepherd them through the return to these characters that mean so much to them..”

The Plotline of Jurassic World Dominion
Opening of Jurassic World: Dominion will mark the first time we’ve returned to the Cretaceous period, 65 million years ago. In the process, the film will reveal the backstory of Jurassic Park’s iconic T-Rex.
In doing so, Trevorrow hopes to provide new material for fans and draw attention to a period that dinosaur buffs would like. Giganotosaurus, Dreadnoughtus, Quetzalcoatlus, Oviraptor, Nasutoceratops, Iguanodon, and Morus Intrepidus are just a few the seven new dinosaurs that will be appearing in Jurassic World: Dominion.
There are also some hints about the third film’s direction from the ending of Fallen Kingdom. Because dinosaurs are now free to wander the planet, we can expect our protagonists to find themselves in a predicament. “Jurassic World 3 will be a science thriller in the same way that Jurassic Park was,” stated Trevorrow, who co-wrote the script with Emily Carmichael in a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly.
The plot is being kept under wraps for the time being. Still, we know that it will continue the conclusion of the previous film, Jurassic World: the Fallen Kingdom, where we saw the fearsome dinosaurs released into the world, forcing humans and dinosaurs to live together. It’s safe to assume that the story will center on people coping with and adapting to a world populated by dinosaurs. Will it, however, be a success?
Universal Studios published a post-Fallen Kingdom short film in September 2019 that depicts what’s happening with dinosaurs roaming the Earth now. You can watch it below, in which Andre Holland is featured.
