Namor’s Early Look in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Concept artist Anthony Francisco has revealed unused Namor Sub-Mariner drawings. This film marked the introduction of the King of Atlantis to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans are thrilled by his performance in the film, which features an origin tale distinct from the comics.
Anthony Francisco revealed some abandoned Namor character concepts on Twitter. These many designs feature the character’s armor and other accessories, as well as body paint.

However, two of these Tweets depicted Namor’s armor design. In that design, Namor’s looks resembled that of a current comic book character.

The Submariner is wearing full-length trousers as opposed to green shorts. The artist explained, “These two pictures were created during the first stages of Namor’s design.”

Additionally, he verified that the photographs were taken one year before production began. He was given two months to develop the character’s design.

Anthony was a member of the Visual Development Team at Marvel Studios. As part of his duties, he delivered these concepts to the costume designer for Wakanda Forever.

The artist stated in a recent Twitter post that his Namor design was used for the final product. He wrote: “I am extremely pleased and appreciative that Ryan Coogler selected my design! I hope you all enjoy it!”

Namor Look Outside “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”

Namor’s classic appearance in comic books consists of green shorts with which he battled against the Nazis during World War II. However, he is represented as a villain in Marvel Comics.

Namor’s armored appearance was shown in Chip Zdarsky and Carlos Magno’s 2018 comic book series “Namor: The Best Defense.” These unused concept art images have a similar appearance.

The MCU followed this tactic and gave Tenoch Huerta’s Namor a similar classic appearance. In the film, Namor will engage in a fight with Wakanda and attempt to destroy the country by inundating its citizens.

Marvel Studios has maintained most of Namor’s abilities. However, his trident appears differently in the comics.

When will Namor return to the big screen from the MCU’s Oceans?

Now that the film has been out, people are curious about Namor’s future. Kevin Feige did reveal that the success of Black Panther 2 at the box office would decide the Submariner’s destiny in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the whole filmmaking process, concept art plays a crucial part in pre-production. Especially for superhero films, concept art affects the appearance of a character.
After the release of every superhero film, the artists share their abandoned concept art on social media. This has also occurred with Black Panther 2’s key nemesis Namor, allowing fans to witness the antihero’s multiple appearances.
