Obi Wan Kenobi Season 2: Release Date, Rumors and cast in detail!

Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi was great. The hit Star Wars series followed Ewan McGregor‘s Jedi post-Revenge of the Sith, culminating in a rematch with Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader. Fans hope that Kenobi’s story will continue in a possible second season.

Deborah Chow, director of Obi-Wan Kenobi, said Season 1 was a complete story. McGregor said he’s always down to reprise the role.

A previous rumor suggested that Lucasfilm is developing a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Now, the show’s star has updated fans on the Disney+ series’ future.

Obi-wan Kenobi Season 2?

Ewan McGregor seems confident in a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+. The actor’s comment about Lucasfilm “just biding their time” for an announcement could indicate that plans are still being narrowed down. It makes sense for them to take their time so a proper storyline can be mapped out.

Next month’s Disney+ Day could confirm Season 2 and reveal returning characters. If it happens, the show could premiere in 2024 since production could start in 2023.

Obi-Wan Kenobi ended on a positive note, but there are still plot points to address if it’s renewed. Future storylines include Moses Ingram’s Reva and Obi-training Wan’s with Qui-Gon Jinn‘s force ghost.

Darth Vader stopped pursuing Obi-Wan Kenobi at the end of Season 1 (thanks to Emperor Palpatine), so he probably won’t appear in Season 2. Vader’s absence may disappoint some fans, but it makes sense and could lead to Season 2 focusing on smaller threats Obi-Wan must face.

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s finale leaves room for a second season, but Disney+ bills it as a limited series. Deborah Chow, the film’s executive producer, and director said no sequel was planned. She told Entertainment Tonight it was a one-season story. Lucasfilm is considered a trilogy.

Chow: “We envisioned it as a limited series.” “It has a beginning, middle, and end. We didn’t think further.”

Chow said another batch of episodes isn’t impossible. She’s not opposed to bringing back Obi-Wan, but they’d need a reason.

“It would only go forward if there was a real reason,” Chow told ET.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 could happen, according to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
