The South Side Plot

Comedy Central debuted South Side’s first season in the summer of 2019. For Season 2, which debuted in November of last year, more than two years after Season 1, the sitcom was moved to HBO Max.

Along with an ever-growing ensemble of real Chicago residents, the series also stars Chandra Russell, Bashir Salahuddin, Diallo Riddle, and Diallo Riddle as the shady local politician Allen Gayle and Sergeant Turner and Officer Goodnight, respectively. Two and a half months after the season finale aired, in February, South Side’s third season was officially announced.

On November 25, 2021, the new season will pick up where the previous episode, “Sarcophacouch,” left off. The episode, which Chandra Russell wrote, was directed by Michael Blieden.

The episode’s official synopsis reads, “Q’s creative couch generates ripples and a rupture in the space-time continuum; Stacy and Turner clash over teaching methodologies; Juke-A-Thon and Furniture Con loom on the horizon, presenting significant changes for the South Side gang.”

“We are very fortunate. We get to make a presentation about a city we like that includes members of our family and social network. The extraordinary deeds of common people draw attention to the South Side. Both Salahuddin and Riddle acknowledged it.

According to the show’s creator, “We set out to make each episode a distinct and unexpected adventure.” We’re eager to find out where our characters end up in season three, but we have no idea yet.

Suzanna Makkos, HBO Max’s EVP, Original Comedy and Adult Animation, said, “Bringing this universe and these characters to life have been a genuine delight.”

The stories by Bashir and Diallo capture the American dream with razor-sharp wit and biting cultural criticism, which is what many people think South Side is all about. It’s time for the percolator, and I think I can speak for everyone at HBO Max when I say that.
