Joe Russo, the director, stated: “We’re now working on The Gray Man starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans. It is which is set to be released this summer. We’re actively at work on that in editing.
“I believe we’ll be able to finalise the image in February. We’ll be working on some major VFX in it. So scoring and VFX are all going on till we release it.” The film was shot from March to July 2021, with the European leg taking place in Prague, Czech Republic, and in France at the Château de Chantilly, an opulent nineteenth-century castle near Paris.
Synopsis of The Gray Man
In this action spy thriller, Gosling plays CIA officer Court Gentry, who has been betrayed by his organisation and is now on the run. Lloyd Hansen (Evans), a former Gentrys college, is dispatched to track him down.

Who Is in the Cast of the Gray Man?
Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans star as Court Gentry, a freelance assassin and former CIA operative (AKA the titular Gray Man). Evans plays Lloyd Hansen, a former CIA colleague of Gentry’s who is sent to track down the Gray Man and plays the film’s villain.
“He’s a pretty distinctive character, and this is Evans as a villain, so it’s a really intriguing character, and I believe he’ll get to stretch quite a bit in this part,” stated the Russo brothers. Evans’ Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas, who was recently seen in No Time to Die, and Bridgerton breakthrough sensation Regé-Jean Page have joined the cast.
“The weirdest thing about working on a Russo set is that the standards are so outrageously high for everyone in every department that they don’t police you through everything,” Page remarked of his experience on the film. “They’re like, ‘Here’s this ridiculously tough thing; do it.'”
Then they just assume you’ll be able to accomplish it since they don’t recruit people who can’t.”
So far, we only know that Billy Bob Thornton will portray Gentry’s old handler Donald Fitzroy, and that De Armas will play Agent Dani Miranda, who assists Gentry in his quest for life.
Jessica Henwick (The Matrix Resurrections), Wagner Moura, Dhanush, Julia Butters, Alfre Woodard, Eme Ikwuakor, Scott Haze, and DeObia Oparei round out an excellent cast. Their duties, however, are being kept under wraps for the time being.
The Gray Man Plot: What Is the Plot of the Gray Man?
Beyond the core hook of a “deadly conflict between killers,” very little is known about The Gray Man‘s narrative. According to the novel, Gentry is on a journey across Europe to save his handler Sir Donald Fitzroy from Lloyd, who wants Gentry dead in order to complete a billion-dollar transaction for oil interests in Nigeria. However, it is unknown if the film would be a direct adaptation or will incorporate aspects from the remainder of the book series.
Mark Greaney’s series presently consists of ten volumes, and we already know that the Russos intend to convert The Gray Man into an MCU-style series, with Gosling returning for future films. “What we’re doing with Gray Man that’s different is… we’re not going to address every question in the first film,” Joe Russo revealed.
“This is being designed as a series of films, and we might possibly expand out and follow other individuals, but we’re not going to address every question in the film.” So you’ll end the film and have a complete plot, but you’ll still have doubts about the larger world. “And I believe that’s one way to deviate from the paradigm a little bit: don’t give the viewers everything in one film.” You don’t have a conclusive story. Have an open-ended storyline, similar to a chapter in a book.”
Of course, it will depend on if The Gray Man is a big enough blockbuster for Netflix to warrant more films, and even if it is, the Russos have stated that they “love to bring fresh voices in.”
Russo likened the picture to the classic action film Heat, saying: “In the spirit of De Niro and Pacino in Heat, we have two huge cinema actors pitted against each other. This is a high-octane action movie.
“Both actors provide fantastic performances, and their characters are pitted against each other in the film. Chris Evans as the villain gives a brilliantly sociopathic performance. It’s extremely enjoyable to see him [play a good psychopath]. So I expect it to be a lot of fun.”
Even though the film is wrapped, don’t anticipate a trailer until 2022, as Netflix seldom releases trailers for its original films months in advance. For now, take a look at the Russos’ exclusive behind-the-scenes film.
