‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ Canceled at HBO?

The sci-fi love drama The Time Traveler’s Wife has been canceled by HBO after only one season. The cancellation was revealed today.

Originally reported by Deadline, the canceled HBO series was based on Audrey Niffenegger’s 2003 novel of the same name and aired on May 15, 2022, with six one-hour episodes. The season finale, which aired on June 19 of last month, will now serve as the series finale. Rose Leslie plays Clare Abshire, while Theo James portrays Henry Deemble. Clare was taught of the relationship and marriage of the two characters when she was a young girl by Henry, who journeyed through time to the past.

Stephen Moffat, who acted as the project’s writer and executive producer, oversaw the HBO series. Moffat is well-known for his work as a Doctor Who writer, having created the popular and award-winning episode “Blink.” He became showrunner in 2008 and lasted for six seasons during Matt Smith’s tenure as the 11th Doctor and Peter Capaldi’s tenure as the 12th Doctor.

Moffat was also a writer and co-creator for the Sherlock series starring Benedict Cumberbatch. David Nutter directed all six episodes of The Time Traveler’s Wife in his capacity as director. He has directed episodes of Game of Thrones, including the controversial “Red Wedding” episode, as well as pilots for major television programs such as Arrow, Smallville, and Supernatural, among others.

Moffat wrote all six episodes, while Nutter directed them. Together with Sue Vertue, Brian Minchin, and Joseph E. Iberti, they are executive producers.
