The Traitors, a successful Dutch reality show, was acquired by BBC1 and Peacock for a reality/challenge series that would air in the United Kingdom and the United States. Claudia Winkleman’s 12-part psychological game of deceit promises terrible twists and turns.
In the UK version of the show, 22 competitors, including a magician, cheerleading coach, novelist, pensioner, BMX racer, spa therapist, and real estate developer, must decide whom to believe.
When they arrive at a magnificent Scottish castle, Claudia chooses a small number of individuals to be “traitors,” and the remaining “loyal” are “murdered” by the traitors.
In the interim, a loyal individual who successfully reveals a traitor may be “banished.” Identifying someone is a challenge, and there are no game regulations because the winner may collect £120,000.
The Traitors Episode Details
Episode 1: Tuesday, November 29, 9 pm
Claudia Winkleman welcomes 22 strangers as they gather at a stunning castle in the Scottish Highlands to compete in the ultimate game of deception, backstabbing, and trust, with the chance of winning up to £120,000.
Before long, the players begin to suspect everything, and Claudia assigns three Traitors to each player in secret. It is up to The Traitors, in the cover of night, to “kill” their fellow players known as Faithfuls by eliminating them one by one.
The remaining players, the Faithful, must identify the Traitors and expel them from the game before they become the next victims. Those who are fortunate enough to make it to the end have the opportunity to earn life-altering riches.
However, if a Traitor remains undetected, he or she will win all the money. Will the Traitors be able to survive their first day without being discovered, given that alliances are forming and suspicions are frequent? Who will they choose to kill first in the game?
Episode 2: Wednesday, November 30, 9.15 pm
The game of detection, backstabbing, and trust suddenly becomes very real for the players as it is revealed who was murdered by the Traitors during the night, leaving the Faithful reeling and the Traitors doing their best to avoid suspicion.
And when allegations begin to fly, the crew is given a new mission to continue accumulating funds for the reward pool. As the sun begins to set, speculation returns to the identity of the Traitors as the players head to the Round Table for the first dramatic banishment.
Will the loyal be able to apprehend a Traitor, or will they unwittingly expel one of their own?
Episode 3 Release on December 1 at 9 p.m.
There are tears and rage at the breakfast table upon learning that The Traitors “murdered” the second faithful during the night. The players are thrown into confusion as they learn more about one another during the task.
And a dramatic confrontation at the round table ends in the expulsion of another player from the game; however, it is unclear if they are a Traitor or a Faithful. As the player’s reel from yet another day of deceit, Claudia has one more surprise in store for The Traitors as night falls.
Episode 4: Tuesday, December 6, 9.15 pm (football dependent)
Breakfast reaches its dramatic peak as Claudia’s revelation wreaks havoc on the castle and distrust reaches a boiling point. Before the dust has even had a chance to settle, the players must temporarily set aside their grievances in order to complete another Mission, in which they have the opportunity to contribute an additional £10,000 to the ever-increasing prize fund. And, with a tense round table on the horizon, one player must make a very difficult choice.
Episode 5: Wednesday, December 7, 9 pm
