The series’ main location was in and around Bucharest, the nation’s capital and commercial center. The set of a town was constructed at the Bucharest Film Studios, popularly known as the Buftea Studios, where the production team established their base.
The studio, which is around 20 kilometers outside of the city, has been in business for more than seven decades and has produced more than 600 movies. There are four water tanks and 19 sound stages at the property. Additionally, it provides resources for post-production, props, SFX, and set decoration.
In addition to the Buftea Studios, numerous additional locations throughout the capital city were used for filming. Romania’s economic and cultural center is Bucharest, which is located along the banks of the Dâmbovița River.
The Palace of the Parliament, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, the Romanian Athenaeum, and the Arcul de Triumf are just a few of the city’s tourist attractions. Bucharest has been used for a number of other films and television episodes besides Wednesday, such as Voyagers, The Contractor, Killing Eve, and Watcher.
Transylvania, a region in central Romania, was also the location for some significant scenes from Wednesday season 1. The cast and crew of the teams filmed at Predeal, a tourist town in Brasov County, as well as other alpine areas.
A number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites can be found in Transylvania, including the Dacian Fortresses of the Orăştie Mountains, the Roșia Montană Mining Cultural Landscape, and the Historic Center of Sighișoara.
Cantacuzino Castle Was Featured as Nevermore Academy
Exterior scenes of the spooky Nevermore Academy were filmed at the Cantacuzino Castle in Brașov County, Transylvania. Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino constructed the castle in 1911 in the mountainous town of Buşteni.
The fortress was privately owned by the Cantacuzino family for over three decades before it was nationalized in 1945 and placed under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Interior.
The first floor of the castle is now utilized for art exhibitions and guided tours are available to the public. Every episode of Wednesday is currently available on Netflix. Stay informed for additional news and updates.
