Even though the Korean film and TV industry isn’t known for making remakes, we got a version of La Casa de Papel, which is more commonly known as Money Heist. The show was a big hit, with a score of 8.3 on MyDramaList and 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. When Money Heist: Korea, a remake of the first movie, came out in June 2022, it surprised people by being interesting and different from the first movie, even though the basic plot stayed the same.
With a trailer, Netflix announced that there will be a second season of Money Heist: Korea. Fans who have been waiting for an action thriller are thrilled. The backstories of some characters, like Tokyo (Jeon Jong-Seo), have changed a little, but the main idea of the story is still interesting, even for people who have already seen the original Money Heist.
With six episodes, the first season covered a big chunk of the story, leaving room for more to be explored in later seasons. Money Heist: Korea season 2 is being talked about, and it’s one of the most-anticipated Korean shows on Netflix. Here’s what we know about it.

The Plot of Money Heist: Korea Season 2
In the first season, we learned about The Professor’s clever plan to steal four trillion won. He did this by hiring a few people with bad histories and getting into the Mint at JEA. After taking the hostages, they started making banknotes worth four trillion won and said they had a secret plan against the government.
We see how Woo-jin came close to finding out who The Professor was after a few meetings between the heist team led by Yoo Jin-Tae and the police unit led by Seon Woo-jin, who are also lovers. On the other hand, the heist team has done its job and is now planning how to get away. Woo-jin, on the other hand, is dead set on freeing the hostages and catching the infiltrators.
Even though it seems like the story is coming to an end, there is still more to learn in the second season. Even though the professor has a basic rule about relationships, it looks like the second season will be about Rio (Lee Hyun-woo) and Tokyo, Denver (Kim Ji-hoon), and Mi-Seon’s love story. Seo Woo-jin will try to find out who The Professor, who is also her love interest, really is. The focus of the second season, on the other hand, would be on how the heist team gets out of the Mint without fighting the police on both ends.
The Money Heist: Korea Season 2 Cast and Crew
The main cast from the first season of the K-drama will be back for the second season since the next episodes were shot right after the first ones. As we saw in the first Spanish Money Heist, as the story goes on, several new characters will show up. In the next season, Yoo Ji-Tae, The Professor, who was the mastermind behind the heist, and Yunjin Kim, who played the police officer on the task force, Seon Woo-jin, will be back for even more intense mind games. The first actor is known for his roles in popular dramas like Ji Chang-Wook’s Healer, Different Dreams, and Mad Dog. The second actor became known for his roles in Heartbeat, Confession, and Lost.
Aside from these two main roles, the second season’s other important cast members are Lee Si-woo as Ann, Eugene Ko as Vice Director, Jeon Jong-Seo as Tokyo, Park Hae-soo as Berlin, Kim Ji-hoon played Denver, Joo-Bin Lee played Youn Misun, Hyun-Woo Lee played Rio, Yoon-Ju Jang played Nairobi, Won-jong Lee played Moscow, Ji-Hoon Kim played Helsinki, Kyu-Ho Lee played Oslo, and Victoria Grace played Anne.
Hong-sun Kim, who is best known for his hit drama Voice, is back to direct the second season of the show. Alex Pina, a successful Spanish film director, and writer made up the story on the spot and was the executive producer. Kim Hwan-Chae, Choi Sung-Joon, and Ryu Yong-Joe also wrote parts of the story.
Everything Else We Know About the Money Heist: Korea Season 2
When Money Heist: Korea first came out on Netflix, people thought it would be different from the first series. It didn’t work out, though, and the series got a lot of bad reviews, which gave it an IMDb rating of 5.3/10. But from a drama point of view, MyDramaList gave it an 8.3/10, which is a typical score for a Korean series.
Also, fans have already rated the episodes that haven’t been shown yet, so there’s no reason to think the real rating isn’t higher. This makes me wonder if Netflix would make Money Heist: Korea’s third, fourth, and fifth seasons. The plot of the remake is the same as the original, which ran for five seasons, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that it will be like the Spanish show.
Because Money Heist: Korea stays true to the original, it could be a great Netflix series if they decide to make it into more seasons. But only time will tell if the second season is better than the first and if the show becomes more popular than the first.
