This year, Zach Braff and Florence Pugh ended their relationship, the “Little Women” actress announced. And there is a reason why we were unaware of it until now.
Pugh told Harper’s Bazaar in an interview published on Tuesday, “We’ve been trying to keep this split a secret from the public since this is a relationship that everyone has an opinion on.”
“We felt something like this would benefit us greatly by preventing millions of people from telling us how glad they are that we are not together. Thus, we have accomplished this. “When I talk about it, my neck naturally becomes bumpy,” she added.
This is not the first time that the Oscar nominee has discussed the online hostility she and the “Scrubs” alum faced throughout their relationship. When Braff, 47, and Pugh, 26, began dating a few years ago, many were quick to condemn their 21-year age difference.
In April 2020, the “Black Widow” star moved to Instagram to scold individuals for posting unasked-for comments about the couple’s age gap on social media.
Pugh stated, “I am 24 years old,” at the time. “I do not need you to tell me who I can and cannot love, and I would never in my entire life tell someone who they can or cannot love. It is not your responsibility, and it has no bearing on you.”
After working together on the 2019 short film “In the Time It Takes to Get There,” starring Pugh and directed by Braff, the actors fueled dating rumors. Pugh acted alongside Morgan Freeman and Molly Shannon in the upcoming release of “A Good Person,” another Braff film.
Pugh told Harper’s Bazaar that working on the film with her co-stars was one of her most memorable experiences. It was incredibly natural and straightforward to perform.
Pugh also mentioned her upcoming film “Don’t Worry, Darling,” which will be directed by Olivia Wilde. Pugh and Harry Styles (in his biggest film role to date) play a 1950s married couple whose lives begin to spin out of control in the upcoming psychological thriller.
The gripping trailer for the highly anticipated period piece, which teases sensual scenes between the breakout star of “Midsommar” and the former One Direction heartthrob, has sent fans and media outlets into a frenzy.
“It’s not why we do it when it’s down to your sex scenes or to watch the most famous man in the world beat someone up. “I’m not in this industry for this,” Pugh said of the response to the previews.
“Obviously, hiring the most recognized pop star in the world will need conversations of this sort. This is not what I will be discussing, as [this film] is larger and more impressive than that. And the individuals who made it are greater and superior.”
