BTS‘ latest compilation album Proof debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart (dated June 25), becoming the pop group’s sixth chart-topper. According to Luminate, the retrospective will comprise 314,000 equivalent album units collected in the United States for the week ending June 16. The vast bulk of that total was driven by CD album sales.

Luminate’s Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the United States based on multimetric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums are all considered units (SEA).
Each unit is the equivalent of one album sold, or ten individual songs sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscriber on-demand official audio and video streams created by songs from an album. The new chart for June 25, 2022, will be available in its entirety on Billboard’s website on June 21.
Proof’s album was the best week of the year in terms of both units sold and album sales. Harry Styles’ debut frame Harry’s house sold 521,000 units, 330,000 of which were album sales, making it the only better week in 2022.
The proof was released as a digital download and streaming album with 35 tracks, as well as a 48-track extended CD record. The latest edition contains 13 exclusive tracks, mostly demo recordings, that are not available on digital or streaming albums. Proof did not exist in any other format, including vinyl LP or cassette.
Eight of BTS’s thirteen top 40 Billboard Hot 100 tunes (as of the most recently released chart, dated June 18) are included in all copies of the album, including three of the group’s six #1s (“Dynamite,” “Life Continues,” and “Butter”). Proof also includes three new songs, including the lead single, “Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment).”
Proof earned over 266,000 traditional album sales, including 6,500 digital records. The remaining amount, slightly more than 259,000, was all from CD sales. That is the best week for a CD album in the United States since Adele’s 30 sold 378,000 CDs in its first week (ending November 25, 2021; chart dated December 4, 2021). Similarly, Adele’s 30 CD was available in three versions: a 12-track normal edition (list price $11.98), a Target exclusive pressing with three bonus tracks ($13.98), and a deluxe box set ($40) that included the standard CD, a T-shirt, and a photo print. The $11.98 and $13.98 versions of 30 accounted for the great bulk of CD sales.
Proof, which was primarily recorded in Korean, is the 15th largely non-English language album to reach No. 1 and the third in 2022. This year also marked Bad Bunny’s first non-English No. 1 (the all-Spanish chart). A Summer Without You) and Stray Kids (mostly Korean foreigners). Six of the 15 leaders who are primarily shot in languages other than English have gone through BTS.
Denim & Rhinestone is Underwood’s tenth consecutive top ten albums Throughout her entire charting career. And all ten debuted in the top ten, dating back to her first release, Some Hearts, in 2005.
