Today, the third volume of the real crime documentary series Unsolved Mysteries debuted on Netflix with a fresh lineup of cases.

Today, the streaming service released three episodes, with the third focusing on the 2018 murder of David Carter, a father from Michigan whose dismembered body was discovered in a sleeping bag days after he was reported missing.

Carter’s case is a relatively recent mystery that will shatter the hearts of viewers due to the fact that a suspect is now on the run and his family wants answers.

What happened to David Carter and who the police are searching for in connection with his murder are detailed below.

Who is David Carter?

David Carter Sr., a 39-year-old father from Melvindale, Michigan, was discovered dismembered on October 1, 2018. Carter, who worked at the Magna Seating Plant and helped with the Melvindale Junior Football League, was reported missing during the first week of October 2018 after missing three consecutive days of work.

Carter had attended DJ’s football game on September 28 with his entire family and DJ’s mother, Samia Conner. Tamera ‘Tammy’ Williams, a medical center worker, and the travel agent were also present; but, according to Conner, David and Tammy were not together at the game.

What is the status of David Carter?

According to the Netflix documentary, Carter’s son DJ went to his father’s apartment on September 30 to retrieve goods after his mother reportedly got a text message from Carter’s phone stating that he was feeling poorly.
DJ reportedly observed Carter’s girlfriend Tammy emptying the trash cans when he visited his father’s home.

“She literally raced to the apartment door,” DJ told Unsolved Mysteries. “And when I arrived to my father’s residence, the door was closed. You’d think since she saw me, she would have left the door unlocked, but I had the key.” DJ said his bedroom door was locked, while Williams reportedly told him Carter had left for a stroll after closing the bathroom door.

Carter failed to report for work on September 30, and his coworker contacted his sister Tasia Carter-Jackson on October 2 to inquire about his whereabouts. When she visited his residence, his front door was apparently open and his bed was not made. She stated that there was a massive blood stain both below and on top of the mattress, which also included a bullet hole.

On October 1st, a department of transportation employee in Eagle Township, Ohio discovered Carter’s lower torso and legs in a sleeping bag among weeds near a highway. Carter’s head was discovered in a black duffel bag with a gunshot wound beneath his ear nine days later, while his upper torso and hands were discovered in a suitcase on the 16th of October.

Who killed David Carter?

The primary idea examined in the episode Body in Bags of Unsolved Mysteries is whether Carter’s girlfriend Tammy murdered him. According to Fox2, Williams is wanted by the US Department of Justice for “mutilation, dissection of a dead corpse, tampering with evidence, and felony firearm” in connection with Carter’s death.

According to reports, the US Marshals are offering a $10,000 reward for information regarding Williams, and in September 2021, police speculated that Williams’ relatives may have assisted her in evading law enforcement. Andrew Battersby, a member of the US Marshals Task Force in Detroit, was interviewed for the documentary “Someone is giving her with both cash assistance and a roof over her head, a place to live. She did not simply vanish.”

Williams is regarded to be a “threatening lady,” he said, adding, “The weapon used has not been retrieved.” Therefore, he suspects she may be “armed and dangerous.”

Williams, a former travel agent and hospital employee, was detained on 5 October 2018 after Carter’s corpse was discovered, however, she was later freed because there was insufficient evidence to retain her.

Supervisory Deputy US Marshal Aaron Garcia told Fox2 in September 2021, “We will locate you.” “This case has been under investigation for three years, and we have received very little cooperation thus far. People are aware of her whereabouts, location, and contact information. They have not yet come forward.”
