Us Weekly has learned that despite the ongoing legal battle between the two, Tristan Thompson has been providing child support to Maralee Nichols for their son Theo.
Thompson “is paying, and has paid, child support to Ms. Nichols retroactive to the date she delivered the child,” an attorney for the 31-year-old NBA player told Us on Thursday, August 18.
The child, now 8 months old, was born to the fitness model, also 31, in December 2021, months after she filed a paternity lawsuit against Thompson. Nichols’s representative said earlier this year that the Canadian national had not been providing for Theo in any way, financially or otherwise.

The spokesperson told Us in February, “despite news reports stating otherwise, Tristan Thompson has done nothing to support their son.” The son has not been introduced to him, and he has not helped the family financially.
An insider told Us that the basketball star still hadn’t met Theo four months later. As far as Theo is concerned, Tristan is largely absent from his life. According to the source, Thompson has not provided child support and has not met Theo or attempted to set up a meeting with him. He isn’t planning on seeing his son anytime soon.
Recently, Nichols posted a selfie on Instagram with the caption, “Less time on captions, more time on actions never skip leg day,” which appeared to be a dig at the former Boston Celtics center. The cryptic nature of Thompson’s social media posts seemed to be the inspiration for the message.
In June 2021, the model filed a child support lawsuit against the former Cleveland Cavaliers player, claiming that the couple had conceived the child in March of that year. Khloé Kardashian was still Thompson’s girlfriend at the time.
The athlete apologized to the Good American founder, 38, and confirmed his paternity in an Instagram Story back in January. I’m the father, according to today’s paternity test results with Maralee Nichols. What I did was wrong, and I am willing to accept the consequences,” he wrote. Paternity has been established, and I’m looking forward to co-parenting our son.
Khloé, you don’t deserve this,” he wrote on a second slide. The pain and shame I have brought upon you are not fair compensation for my actions. You haven’t deserved my treatment over the years, and I apologize. My words and deeds have been at odds with how I feel about you. All my love and admiration are reserved for you. In spite of what you may be thinking. One more time, please accept my deepest condolences.
In the June season finale of The Kardashians, the Hulu star admitted that she had learned about Nichols and Theo at the same time as the rest of the world. After a month, the reality star revealed that she and her ex were planning to have another child via surrogate. Their 4-year-old daughter, True, completes the family. (5-year-old Prince Thompson is Thompson and Craig’s joint responsibility.)
True will be joined in the world by a new sibling who was conceived in November, a representative for Kardashian told Us in July. For this wonderful gift, Khloé is extremely appreciative of the extraordinary surrogate. So that Khloé can devote her time and energy to her loved ones, we humbly request respect and discretion.
Us announced the surrogate had a son on August 5. An insider at the time said, “both baby and mother are very happy and healthy.” “Khloé can’t wait to have a bigger family.”
