Jennifer Lopez Introduces Her Daughter Emme On Gender-Neutral Pronouns

Jennifer Lopez used gender-neutral pronouns to refer to her child before a duet during a concert this week.

The singer performed in Los Angeles on Thursday (16 June), welcoming Emme Maribel Muiz, 14, to the stage at the LA Dodgers Foundation Blue Diamond Gala.

Lopez referred to Emme as “my favorite duet partner,” telling the audience, “The last time we sang together was in a big stadium like this, and I beg them to sing with me all the time, but they won’t.” As a result, this is a significant occasion.

“They are quite busy, booked, and expensive,” she said, adding, “They cost me when they come out.” But they’re worth every dime because they’re my all-time favorite duet partner. So, if you’ll excuse me.”

Lopez, the star of Hustlers, posted a video of the performance, in which the couple sang Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years,” on her social media platforms. Emme was seen singing parts of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” and Lopez’s own “Let’s Get Loud” while holding a rainbow-colored microphone.

One TikTok video was published, with Lopez’s admirers applauding the singer for her moving remarks before the duet.

“It’s great to see J-Lo supporting her child,” one fan said.

Lopez’s youngest kid is Emme, and their father is Marc Anthony, whom Lopez divorced in 2014.

The performance was held to raise donations for Los Angeles education, health care, homelessness, and social justice concerns.

One source of annoyance for Lopez was having to share the stage with Shakira, owing to the time constraints that come with having two main acts.

“Having two people do the Super Bowl is the dumbest idea in the world,” Lopez told her music director. “It was the dumbest idea ever.”

“We’ve got six minutes. We have 30 seconds of a song left, and if we take a minute, that’s it; we only have five seconds left “Lopez stated in the film. “However, there must be some songs that we sing. We must have singing moments. It will not be a dance revue. We must sing our message.”

Bobby Medina, the singer’s manager, expressed his displeasure with the NFL and the choice to have two headliners for the 2020 halftime show.

“Normally, there is just one headliner at a Super Bowl,” Medina remarked in the documentary. “That headliner creates a show, and if they want to include other guests, that is their prerogative. It was an insult to claim that you needed two Latinas to execute a task that had traditionally been done by one artist.”

“They should have given us 20 minutes if it was going to be a double headliner,” Lopez remarked in the documentary. “That’s exactly what they should have done.”

The NFL also tried to have Lopez’s performance with the caged children deleted from the show.

“When we left rehearsal, I realized everyone was freaking out, but I’m not sure why,” Lopez explained. “I get a phone call from Benny, who says, ‘They want to pull the cages.’ That night, the NFL’s higher-ups watched it for the first time and said, ‘Hey, you can’t do that.'”

Lopez, on the other hand, followed ahead with the plan.
