“Netflix Wednesday Release Date” Announce through Trailer

The Addams family is ready for its close-up, so long as it’s frightening and bizarre. Saturday’s release of the entire trailer for Wednesday on Netflix gives us a clearer look at the series, which will include Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester (!) and Christina Ricci (the original Wednesday) as Ms. Thornhill, a new character created for the program.

The series, created by Smallville’s Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, follows the titular goth, now a teenager, as she enrolls at Nevermore Academy, the enigmatic alma mater of her parents. It just so happens to be in a murder-ridden tiny town. With the premiere on November 23, you won’t have to wait long to be frightened. (The publication date is particularly close to Thanksgiving, which is Wednesday’s favorite holiday to analyze.)

The new series draws inspiration from the original cartoon made by Charles Addams with the assistance of Colleen Atwood, Burton’s longtime costume designer. The cast also includes Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Gomez and Morticia Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, and of course Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, our favorite day of the week.
