PSL: Ben Cutting and Sohail Tanvir penalized for a heated brawl

Ben Cutting and Sohail Tanvir have been penalized 25 % of the match fee, respectively, for breaching the PSL code of conduct.

Concerning the much-heated brawl between Ben Cutting of Peshawar Zalmi and Sohail Tanvir of Quetta Gladiators, the PSL has decided to take both players to the task. PCB has termed their on-field behavior violating the “PSL Code of Conduct”. According to the reports, the players were found guilty of breaching Level 1 Infringement while having a go at each other on Tuesday. Both the players have been found guilty for breaching article 2.6 of the PSL Code of Conduct that prevents any “usage of a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during a PSL Match”.

The incident occurred when Ben Cutting made inappropriate gestures that sparked the row. While batting, he consecutively hit three sixes which pumped the batsman to gesture fingers inappropriately. Furthermore, after taking a catch off the delivery from Naseem Shah, Sohail decided to give Cutting the taste of his own medicine. He mirrored the gestures of Cutting which led the two players to nearly rub shoulders.

The match referee, however, condemned the action: “Inappropriate gestures have no place in this great sport,” said match referee Ali Naqvi. “Behaviour like this sends out a wrong message to the younger generation of cricketers. The PSL 2022 is being played in good, positive spirits and I would like to see the players continue to fight hard inside the field of play but at the same time to remain within the parameters of the spirit of the game,” he further added.
