The series was met with generally favorable reviews from both reviewers and spectators, with particular praise directed toward Matefeo’s exceptional performance. At the BAFTA Awards in 2022, Matefeo was considered for the award for Best Female Performance in a Comedy Program for the part she played as Jessie.
IMDb gave the show a score of 7.5 out of 10, and the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes gave it perfect marks across the board. It was praised as “expertly produced old-school screwball comedy, sparking with humor and sexual energy” by The New York Times. The series was a financial success in the UK, and it was able to reach a significant number of people in a relatively short amount of time.
