State of Decay 3: What Will Be the Release Date?

Although the global infatuation with zombies isn’t as strong as it was a few years ago, we’re nevertheless prepared to witness some significant undead action in the future. In order to create a home in a harsh world, Undead Labs is now working on the third installment of its State of Decay series.

This game will undoubtedly pit an eclectic cast of survivors against hordes of wandering undead. The series’ previous installments have all combined aspects of action-adventure, survival-horror, stealth, role-playing, and strategy into an intriguing experience that involves reestablishing society and decapitating zombies.

Although we don’t yet have many specifics on State of Decay 3, we have been skulking around the wasteland looking for any information we can find. Here is all the information we currently have on State of Decay 3.

Release Date of State of Decay 3

State of Decay 3’s anticipated sequel won’t be available for a while because neither Undead Labs nor Microsoft has set a release date. Undead Labs announced that the game was in the early stages of pre-production when the cinematic announcement video was unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase event in July 2020.

Undead Labs reportedly felt forced into releasing an announcement trailer before the game’s developers thought they were prepared to do so. After being acquired by Microsoft in 2018, Undead Labs underwent a significant culture change, which has been the subject of accusations of poor management, burnout, and misogyny, according to a March 2022 investigative investigation from Kotaku.

State of Decay 3 wasn’t addressed at all during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, which disappointed fans who were hoping to get a fresh peek at the game.

Trailer of State of Decay 3

The cinematic announcement Microsoft released in July 2020 is the first and only glimpse we have of State of Decay 3. There’s certainly a lot to unpack even though the trailer doesn’t give any plot or gameplay elements.

The game’s setting may be Alaska, Colorado, Wyoming, or Canada, according to fans’ speculation based on the scenery in the teaser, which depicts a lone female survivor attempting to survive in a chilly, inhospitable environment. In the night, piercing white eyes peer down at the lone human as the survivor sharpens wooden bolts for her crossbow next to a campfire after hearing something in the nearby woodland.

The survivor does something we’ve all been taught not to do in a zombie apocalypse scenario: she screams at whatever is hunting her, not out of fear, but seemingly to intimidate it. Instead of firing her crossbow, running away, or at least extinguishing her fire to be less visible, the survivor does.

It also works! Whatever was infiltrating her encampment flees. However, what was it? Sound has been strictly forbidden in every prior State of Decay installment. More zombies will chase you down if you make more noise, yelling and summoning more undead comrades as they go.

Later in the brief teaser, the survivor discovers a trail of blood in the snow and starts looking for the injured person or object. She observes a wolf carcass being consumed by what appears to be a zombified deer as she stares into the crossbow’s eyepieces; the deer’s entire right side is ripped open and rotting. After a brief pause, the deer screams horrifyingly, and the trailer stops abruptly.
