Lefties As part of the completion of the impact trade, JP Sears and Ken Waldichuk, along with right-handed pitcher Luis Medina and infielder Cooper Bowman, will be heading to Oakland.

Through the 2023 season, Montas will be under the control of the team.

“Prior to the game, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said of the right-handed Montas that “He’s a great pitcher.” Yankee Stadium is located in the Bronx.

The game against the Seattle Mariners was played on Monday night. “We are ecstatic that we were able to close a deal that benefited him.

“He’s got the full arsenal, the weapons, and the stuff that you look for in top-of-the-rotation caliber pitchers,” the commentator said about the pitcher.

This season, Montas, who is 29 years old, has pitched to a 3.18 earned run average. Early in the month of July, he experienced a bout of shoulder inflammation, but manager Aaron Boone stated, “I think we’re comfortable with where he’s at” physically. Boone lauded Montas’ slider, splitter, and “fastball that can rival with anyone, too.”

“He has a bit of a bulldog presence to him, and from what I’ve heard, that seems to be kind of the makeup he has, as well. I believe that he will be looking forward to both pitchings here and pitching in this stadium, as well as simply being a part of this group.

With the acquisition of Montas, the first-place Yankees now have another top-rotation choice to accompany their ace pitcher Gerrit Cole into a postseason series. The Yankees are currently leading the American League East by 11.5 games on the eve of Tuesday’s 6 p.m. MLB trade deadline.

Before that, the Yankees traded three pitching prospects to the Kansas City Royals in order to acquire left-handed hitter Andrew Benintendi, who plays outfield for the Royals.

Castillo was traded from Cincinnati to Seattle over the weekend in a deal that involved two of the top infield prospects for the Mariners. The Yankees were unable to reach an agreement with Cincinnati on a trade for Castillo.

On Wednesday afternoon, Castillo is slated to face off against Cole when he takes the mound against the Yankees.

“According to Boone, “I think with Benny, Effross, and now Montas, there’s no question that we added…high caliber players.” Montas is the most recent addition. “On paper, we’re better. But I want to warn you that that is just on paper; we have to go out and actually do it.”
