Why Did Joe Gatto Really Leave Impractical Jokers?

There are plenty of reality TV shows to choose from, but one consistently delivers laughs year after year. For nine seasons, “Impractical Jokers” has been entertaining audiences by following the antics of friends Sal Vulcano, James Murray, Brian Quinn, and Joe Gatto as they dare each other to participate in increasingly wild pranks ranging from slightly uncomfortable to downright humiliating.

The formula was perfected by the hidden camera show, which featured a prank war orchestrated by four real-life friends who clearly enjoy making each other laugh. The TruTV series grew from a low-budget cable show to an international sensation, complete with a feature-length film.

Joe Gatto recently announced that he will not be returning to “Impractical Jokers,” and while we are disappointed, we completely understand why.

Joe Gatto is Leaving to Spend More Time With His Family

Joe Gatto announced on Instagram that he “will no longer be involved with Impractical Jokers,” citing changes in his personal life as the reason for his decision to leave the show. He reveals that he and his wife Bessy have divorced and that he “now [needs] to focus on being the best father and co-parent to [their] incredible kids.”

The couple has a six-year-old and a four-year-old. This news saddens us, but family comes first. However, as Gatto explains, saying goodbye to his fellow jokers is not easy. “My relationships with Murr, Q, and Sal have been the most important in my life outside of my family, and I know they will continue to make the world laugh,” he writes.

Gatto may no longer be a part of the “Impractical Jokers” series, but he isn’t abandoning comedy. “Seeing you laugh has been my own medicine, especially in these strange and difficult times we find ourselves in, and I hope to and am excited to create new ways to entertain you as I work through the challenges I am facing” (via Instagram).

We’ll miss seeing Gatto with his friends and wish him and his family the best as they embark on this new chapter.
