The new trend is rapidly dominating the video-sharing platform, and consumers are eager to participate. This is what it involves.

What is the TikTok reverse AI filter trend?

The current trend involves the inversion of AI-generated artwork created using the AI Art filter in the Dream by WOMBO app.

In September 2022, when TikTok users posted about using the filter on their lock screens, it gained popularity.

TikTok disclosed that their spouses would be upset that their lock screen did not feature a photo of them, when in fact, it WAS a photo of them with a wacky filter.

Then, users began to test the waters by posting graphic photographs through the filter, knowing they would not be penalized for doing so.

Despite the fact that it is sometimes possible to discern what has been painted over, the majority of the time all photo details have been removed.

In one instance, a TikToker identified as kainenovak uploaded a video with an AI Art filter nude in early November 2022 that gained approximately 4.1 million views and 547,200 likes over the course of four days.

Users joked that they could view the x-rated image through the art influenced by artificial intelligence.

Why this filter is trending?

As more users masked their sexual photographs with the AI art filter, many began to question whether the process could be reversed.

For some, the activity has even taken on the form of a game, as people collaborate to identify the explicit image in the posts.

According to sources, it does not appear to be able to reverse an AI art filter on TikTok, which is good news for those who have uploaded obscene photos online.

However, this does not mean that using the art filter for one of your more graphic photographs is risk-free, and users have been urged to take caution.

One IT expert wrote: “When you apply a filter to an image, you upload it to a server that may be hacked. “Users will not be able to reverse these photos, but they may still be harmful.” Some users, meanwhile, have adopted a more PG approach to the filter.

In some instances, individuals have turned pictures of their loved ones, their favorite song lyrics, or even random text.
