Verizon Unlimited Data Plans
Verizon’s plan service is led by its unlimited postpaid options, which can be thought of as the “flagship” of the service. In short, these unlimited data plans give you access to Ultra Wideband 5G (except for Start Unlimited), the premium network (which means faster speeds), and a lot of streaming and cloud storage perks. These are the best Verizon plans you can get right now, but as you might expect, they cost a lot. We’d recommend these to someone who uses their phone a lot and would take advantage of the unlimited data.
Verizon 5G Play More:
Verizon’s main postpaid plan for consumers is called “Play More Unlimited.” It’s right in the middle in terms of price, but it gives you full access to 5G, priority access to premium networks, and a full subscription to Hulu, Disney+, and even ESPN+. It’s not cheap, but you’re getting a lot of great perks and access to some of the fastest and most reliable data speeds in the country.

Verizon 5G Start:
Start Unlimited is Verizon’s “basic” postpaid plan. It doesn’t include streaming features like Disney+ or cloud storage, but it does include 5GB of hotspot data. You’ll still get unlimited calls, texts, and data here, but the data speeds will only be 5G standard. It’s a good choice if you’re on a tight budget, but we think the $10 extra for the other plans, which give you access to 5G Wideband and more streaming features, is worth it.

Verizon prepaid plans
Verizon’s prepaid plans are flexible and don’t require a contract. Instead, you pay for them every month and can change them as needed. In short, they don’t do credit checks and have pretty good prices, but they don’t have most of the perks that come with postpaid plans, like streaming services. Since they are not on the Verizon premium network, they also have to deal with slower data speeds everywhere. Still, they are a good choice if you have a tight budget and don’t want to sign an annual contract.
Verizon prepaid 15GB plan
Verizon recently got rid of its 5GB prepaid plan, so its 15GB plan is now the cheapest option. This plan gives you a good amount of data for a reasonable price. The first of Verizon’s unlimited prepaid plans includes 5G access, free calls and texts to Mexico and Canada, but not mobile hotspotting, which costs an extra $5 per month. This is a pretty good choice if all you want is unlimited data on a single line, since it’s a lot cheaper than the postpaid options.

Verizon Prepaid Unlimited Plus
And finally, Verizon’s Unlimited Plus plan, which is a new high-end prepaid option for 2022, is the last of its prepaid plans. It’s basically a new name for the old unlimited wideband plan, and it’s meant to give users unlimited access to Verizon’s premium network as well as unlimited mobile hotspotting. We think it’s a bit pricey, especially since you can get unlimited prepaid plans at Visible Wireless and other prepaid networks for half this price. Even so, it’s a good way to get a lot of fast data without having to sign a contract.

Verizon Connected and Accessory Plans

Verizon Prepaid Data Plans
Verizon’s prepaid data plans are a relatively new addition to the carrier’s website. They are similar to the old shared data plans, but they are paid for up front. They are made to work with multiple cell phones (tablets, smartwatches, etc.), but they don’t come with the minutes or texts that come with a regular phone plan. Unlike the old shared data plans, they are now prepaid instead of postpaid. This makes contracts for them pretty flexible.
Note that Verizon’s prepaid data plans work best as add-ons to a prepaid phone plan that you already have. These plans are quite expensive at first, but if you add them to an account you already have, you can save $30 per month per line. Here’s how much it costs:

Postpaid vs Prepaid
Like most other carriers, Verizon has two types of plan prices: postpaid and prepaid. With the postpaid plans, you’ll sign up for a long-term (24-month) contract and pay your bills at the end of each month until your term is up. In general, these plans also give you access to a number of great Verizon deals every month. These deals let you upgrade or get a new phone at a lower price.
If you go with prepaid, you’ll usually pay at the beginning of each month and won’t be locked into a long contract. In general, this gives them more freedom, but Verizon does have a loyalty program that gives the best rates to people who stick with their plan for longer. This is a little sneaky because it’s trying to keep people from leaving, which would take away from the flexibility of prepaid plans. What’s the best Verizon plan for families?
In general, the best Verizon plan for families is one of the postpaid unlimited plans. With these plans, you don’t have to worry about limits, and they come with a lot of perks and discounts for adding more lines to the same plan.
Verizon’s unlimited postpaid plans also have a special “mix-and-match” feature that lets you add lines under a different plan tier if you want to. Using this, you could, for example, have two plans under the basic “Start Unlimited” plan, one plan under the premium “Get More” plan, and an extra “Just Kids” plan, which is a special plan for kids that is only available with at least one other unlimited data plan.
